Duchesne’s graduation was held on May 25, 2017. The evening began with the famous “walk up Burt Street.” Graduates from the class of 2017 processed with red roses and smiling faces as they made their way up to St. Cecilia Cathedral for the ceremony. The commencement ceremony began with an opening by the board of trustees president, Todd Foje. The commencement also featured a faculty address by Duchesne science teacher Jake Hervert and a student address by Ms. Kamsi Achigbu.
Diplomas were awarded to 81 students. Graduates provided more than 13,000 hours of community service over the last 4 years. They received almost $19 million in scholarships and had an average ACT score of 28. During Prize Day earlier in the morning, it was announced that Ellie Helton received Duchesne Prize, Liz Schropp was awarded the Success in Studies Prize and Vivian Caniglia was presented with the Stuart Creativity Award.
